Snow Day #3 on Friday 1-9-15; Week of 1-12-15 through 1-16-15
Students worked on Big 10 every day but Tuesday this week. We left off with Day 7 of Round 8 on Friday.
Monday
1-12-15
Unit 3 Quiz 1: Power Raised to a Power was returned to students so that they could fix their mistakes if need be. We focused on our second learning target in the unit, called "I can raise a product to a power." Students are challenged by this learning target because it can get very complex and use past learning targets within each problem. Students really need to be on their "game" to work it all out.
Assignment: p. 385 #9-16
Tuesday
1-13-15
Students had a sub. They worked on reviewing multiplying powers from Unit 2 and practicing the first 2 learning targets of this unit, Unit 3. They are working on raising a power to a power and raising a product to a power. Students did Reteaching 7-2/7-4 worksheet in class, and the sub went over it with them. Then they had Practice 7-2/7-4 worksheet as their assignment. Many were done before the end of class.
Wednesday & Thursday
1-14-15 & 1-15-15
We corrected part of the worksheet Practice 7-4 for feedback on how to raise a product to a power. Afterward, we practiced more problems on this topic in class. On Thursday we took Unit 3 Quiz 2: Raising a Product to a Power. Many students struggled with this learning target.
Friday
1-16-15
Unit 3 Quiz 2 was returned to students, but not before we worked on problems targeted to represent each problem on the quiz. We did these problems in class and together to be used as a guide for making corrections to the quiz. Students had the assignment of correcting the Unit 3 Quiz 2.
